PUNE, Oct 20: Pulavruttanta, a documentary on noted Marathi humorist P.L. Deshpande, was released by renowned Marathi author Vyankatesh Madgulkar at a function at the National Film Archive of India on Monday.
The two-and-a-half-hour film was directed by noted film director Jabbar Patel for Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan. The film encompasses the author’s illustrious career in literature, films, music, and theatre spanning over five decades.
The film also has Deshpande discussing his work in conversation with Jabbar Patel. The most loved personality in Maharashtra, PuLa was present in person for the screening of the film. A video cassette version of the documentary will be released in the State on November 8 on the 80th birthday of the author.
Speaking at the film release ceremony, leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sharad Pawar described Deshpande as a living legend. “PuLa by himself is the cultural heritage of Maharashtra,” said Pawar.
Madgulkar recalled his encounters with Deshpande during his association with All India Radio.
