The Buxar district administration today booked RJD for violating the Model Code of Conduct after its chief Laloo Prasad Yadav yesterday addressed an election meeting at Dumraon in the district well past 11 pm. The deadline for public meetings and canvassing by loudspeakers is 10 pm. The FIR, however, does not name Laloo.

According to reports, Laloo continued his speech despite a warning from the magistrate on duty. Buxar District Magistrate Rashid Ahmad Khan confirmed the FIR and said he had sent a report to the Election Commission. He refused to divulge contents of the report.

Sources said the FIR had been registered against local RJD leaders Kashinath Prasad and Mukhtar Yadav, and three others (who have not been named), under different sections of the IPC, Representation of People’s Act (RPA) and Bihar Loudspeakers Act.
