VADODARA, Dec 21: Five coaches of the 2952 down Rajdhani Express coming from Delhi toward Vadodara derailed near Dahod at 11.40 am on Monday. Several trains were declared late and a few others were declared indefinitely late following the derailment.
While no injuries were reported due to the derailment, officials at the control room said that the coaches had been cleared and one track was already operating between the two stations. Nine coaches of Rajdhani with the engine have been restored and had left Dahod, officials at the control room said.
Explaining the reasons for the derailment, a senior official said, “This has again proved that it’s high time the track is replaced. That is the only way frequent derailments can be prevented in the division.”
Meanwhile, a few more Delhi-bound trains have already been declared late due to the foggy weather in Delhi. The divisional authorities have meanwhile set up a special information centre at the station to enable passengers to get information about the passengers who were travelling by these coaches.
The trains which have been declared indefinitely late due to the derailment of Rajdhani are: 2954 August Kranti.
