MUMBAI, SEPT 28: Shivaji Nagar police arrested five men who posing as Crime Branch officers abducted a businessman on charges of dealing in fake currency on Monday.
When the businessman left the Ashray Beer Bar in Govandi at around 11.15 pm, he was surrounded by five men who claimed they were crime branch officers and accused him of dealing in fake currency. The quintet then beat him up and forced him into his Tata Sumo, demanding that he take them to his residence and the workshop where he made fake notes.
Meanwhile, a police patrol jeep came by and when police inspector Pawar checked on the vehicle, the businessman gave the alarm. Pawar rescued him and arrested the five. They have bee identified as Hasmukh Jain, Pramod Ubale, Mohammed Lalsu, Javed Lala and Shantaram Jayaswal.
