An inter-ministerial meet at the Home Ministry that reviewed flood relief operations today, noted a marked improvement in the situation in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and J&K

‘‘In Gujarat, the situation has improved considerably. Traffic on the Expressway and national highways has been restored. Air traffic is normal and rail traffic is likely to be fully restored by the July 18,’’ said Home Secretary V K Duggal this afternoon.

The 10 Army columns, 11 IAF helicopters and 750 CRPF personnel deployed in the state have been de-requisitioned, said a ministry statement. The Centre has disbursed Rs 92.25 crore to Gujarat so far.

‘‘In MP, the situation has improved substantially except in Damoh and Panna districts. The NHAI is working for restoration of road links. Four Army columns, 15 motor boats and four IAF helicopters have been deployed in these two districts,’’ the statement said.
