SALEM (TAMIL NADU), AUG 30: A Flood warning has been given to people living on the banks of river Cauvery and low-lying areas to move to safer places due to overflowing of Krishnararaja Sagar and Kabini reservoirs in Karnataka, according to public Works Department (PWD) sources here on Wednesday.

The sources said following the receipt of flood warning from the controlling officer of Krishnarajasagar Reservoir, the district collectors of Salem and Dharmapuri, Nassimudeen and Balachandran respectively issued the flood warning in their respective districts.

While 48,707 cusecs of water was released

from the Krishanrajasagar dam, 39,225 cusecs was released from the Kabini reserovir to Mettur dam.

Meanwhile, the water level in Mettur reservoir was 66.3 ft on Wednesday evening.
