Fired by impressive performances by Ishant Sharma — and supported well by S Sreesanth, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel and Praveen Kumar — the Indian attack has managed to deliver impressively in the ongoing CB Series in Australia.

So impressively, in fact, that the Men in Blue have hardly felt the absence of spearheads Zaheer Khan and RP Singh, both of whom missed the tri-series due to injury.

There’s good news for Dhoni on that front, as both left-arm pacers are now fit and almost ready for action once again.

Zaheer, currently in South Africa, has now fully recovered from the ankle injury he suffered during the first Test at Melbourne. Sidelined for more than a month, the bowler left for South Africa in the last week of January, where he got his heel treated and is currently engaging himself in light bowling sessions at the nets. The bowler will be returning to India on March 3 and will be ready by the time coach Gary Kirsten takes charge.

Meanwhile, RP Singh —who spent a couple of weeks at the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy (NCA) — has regained full fitness following the hamstring injury he suffered during the third Test in Australia. RP will be playing the Ranji Trophy one-dayer between UP and MP in Kanpur as part of his warm-up schedule.

In his last three Test matches, Zaheer has accounted for 20 wickets, while Singh has scalped 14. Both were in prime form before getting injured and will join a two-day camp that new coach Gary Kirsten has called for the entire team in Chennai in the first week of March.
