England’s Ashley Giles consulted a Sri Lankan fortune teller ahead of their ODI match that began in this tourist town today.

Giles, who began his career as a fast bowler and then switched to spin, sat cross-legged in front of the palm reader at the Culture Club Hotel this morning. He declined to say what the palmist predicted.

Giles refused to be photographed and after the palm reading was over, he joined his teammates for breakfast. In Sri Lanka, most big hotels employ in-house palmists who the Sri Lankans often consult, but rarely westerners. Giles has been plagued by a series of injuries during his career.
