
VADODARA, Nov 1: State Water Resources Minister Narottam Patel laid the foundation stone for a 9 lakh litre water tank at Padra near here on Monday.
An official release said that the tank, which is likely to be constructed in the next eight months at a cost of Rs 91 lakh, would supply drinking water to about a 100 villages around the taluka headquarter. The tank will be funded by Gujarat Municipal Finance Board.
Besides State Panchayat Minister Naranbhai Patel, Vadodara city and Chhotaudepur MPs Jayaben Thakkar and Ramsinh Rathwa, a large number of Panchayat, municipality officials and BJP leaders were also present on the occasion.
At another function at village Nankada Husepur, the two ministers also inaugurated a water tank, community hall and nurses quarters. Ministers and other leaders in their respective speeches highlighted various schemes of the state government and reiterated the decision to bear all repairing and electricity expenditures of water schemes.
