
Four secretaries to the government are due to retire by end of this month —I&B secretary Pawan Chopra, Heavy Industries secretary Naresh Narad, Sports secretary Rajeev Srivastava and food processing secretary J Vasudevan. Search is currently on to replace them with the Cabinet Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office holding consultations.
A report on key bureaucrats suffering under the previous regime has also been received by the PMO. The list comprises officials like K M Sahni, currently the Director General of the Bureau of Industrial Standards, L V Saptarishi, additional secretary rank officer who was central observer Bihar during the current elections but had failed to be empanelled as a secretary last year, Sushma Chowdhry, who has served in J-K for several years but was not empanelled for secretary and Suman Swarup DG of Employee State Insurance (ESI) among others who were sidelined during the last government.
