April 4: Fourteen junior squash players from Mumbai have been selected for a training programme, to be conducted by the internationally reputed squash coach KH Ong, father of world junior champion Ong Beng Hee, in Kuala Lumpur from May 13 to 20.

Last December, 15 Malaysian cricketers under the age of 15 underwent cricket coaching at the Elf Vengsarkar Academy under Dilip Vengsarkar, Hanumant Singh and K Jayantilal.

The names of the trainees who will participate in the programme are: Aditya Manjrekar, Ishaan Balwani, Manek Mathur, Natasha Lal, Priyanka Yadav, Rishab Sanghvi, Ritesh Sharma, Sanjay Pawar, Shailee Shelke, Supreet Singh, Rachita Vora, Rahil Shah, Vikrant Malhotra and Yogin Thakur.

Schools’ camp

The Mumbai Schools Sports Association will conduct a free coaching camp, for girls of member schools only, in basketball, cricket, football, handball, hockey and throwball, under the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Sports Promotion Fund, at the MSSA-Castrol Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan, from April 10-29 from 7 am to 9 am.

Online cricket

Cricketnext.com, title sponsors of the World XI vs Asia XI match to be held at Dhaka on April 8, is on an awareness drive by having mobile vans parked at strategic youth hangouts and invite them to participate in cricket-centric games, limited overs rapid-fire quizzes and on-the-spot contests and prizes. Ref Manuel invited

Referee Manuel Pereira, Food Corporation of India, of the Western India Football Association, is one of the five referees invited by the All-India Football Federation, to supervise matches in the final rounds of the 56th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy from April 6 to 23 at Thrissur.

Badminton coaching

The Thane City and District Badminton Association will conduct a badminton coaching camp at Thane from April 16-May 27. For details Tel: 533 7849, 542 1472 or 545 1729.

Roller skating camp

The siws Sports Centre will conduct their second summer roller skating coaching camp from April 13 for boys and girls, under the guidance of National-level coaches and judges at their Campus at Wadala, near Five Gardens, Matunga.

Carrom tourney

The Worli Sports Club will conduct their third District Ranking Carrom Tournament from April 11-17.

Rapid chess

The Bombay Chess Association will conduct a Rapid Chess Tournament in three categories, commencing at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Canteen, Sayani Road, from April 11.

Chess coaching

The Mulund Gymkhana will organise a two-month long chess coaching camp for beginners and advanced players from April 15-June 15 daily between 6 pm to 8 pm. The entry fee is Rs 200 per month.

Cricket coaching

STAR Performers Group will conduct a cricket coaching camp at Shivaji Park (Bengal Club wicket) from April 10 to June 10 from 7 am to 9 am and 3.30 pm to 6 pm (except on Sundays).

Tennis tournament

The Pepsi Open All-India Ranking Lawn Tennis Tournament will be held at the Garden Tennis Academy from April 15 to 22. The events to be held are boys and girls under-16, under-14, under-12 and under-10.

Entries will be accepted at the Garden Tennis Academy and the MSLTA. Entries close on April 12.
