The members of the United Action Front (UAF) have alleged that the flats of the United Cooperative House Building Society Ltd, Mohali, are being sold in the open market and being allotted to non-members.
The front has been formed by those members of the society who have not been allotted the flats. President Amit Saini said that 338 flats have been allotted to 342 persons. Of these 126 are genuine members of the society, while the rest are not. Over 63 per cent of the flats have been allotted to benami, bogus or non-members, claim the forum.
“The problems in the society are due to its president Swaran Singh. He and his associates enrolled 599 members against 338 flats. The flats were allotted without a draw of lots. Multiple flats have been allotted to people known to the president,” said Saini.
