CHANDIGARH, March 26: UT Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) Vani Gopal Sharma has issued fresh production warrants for April 8 against Vijay Kumar Sharma, chairman of the JVG group of industries, who has been accused of duping investors all over the country to the tune of Rs 700 crore. Sharma is currently lodged in the Tihar Jail.

Sharma was summoned by the court after an FIR was lodged under Section 420 of the IPC against him by the Economic Offences Wing of the Chandigarh Police, in May last year. The court had earlier directed the accused to be produced on March 22.

Stating that the production warrants had been returned after they were duly served and that the accused had not been produced before the court, the judge directed that a letter be written to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, District Courts, Delhi, bringing to his notice the fact that the accused has not been presented despite the service of production warrants.

It may be recalled that the EOW branch of the city police had registered an FIR against the accused on the basis of about 130 complaints lodged against him.
