NEW dELHI, May 26: Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori today blasted human rights organisations all over the world for not acknowledging the “human rights” of the victims of terrorists but focussing on the terrorists only.“We have to combat the right of terrorists not respecting the human rights of society. We have to be very clear that the human rights of both must be respected,” Fujimori told journalists here today.

The President, who has been lauded the world over for his tough stand against the leftist Tupac Amaru rebels over the siege of diplomats back home (they were rescued after 126 days), rejected any talks with any rebels in his country. “There are no rebels in my countr5y, there are only terrorists,” he said, adding that since these terrorists hadn’t joined the mainstream by 1994 they would now be shown no political mercy by the state.

This is also the first ever visit by a Peruvian head of state to India and both sides signed six agreements to highlight the trip : on cooperation in agriculture, antarctica, tourism, technical areas, regular foreign office consultations and between the Peruvian diplomatic academy and the Foreign Services Institute of India.

Fujimori said he did not have any discussions on cross-border terrorism with the Prime Minister I K Gujral, but his meaning was clear. “I will not respect the terrorist of a third country,” he said, adding that he had rejected all claims by human rights organisations like Amnesty International and Americas Watch on denials of rights to terrorists in his country.
