LONDON, July 22: Former England captain Mike Gatting played a match-saving innings of 47 to help Middlesex play out a draw against Australia at Lord’s.Facing a first-innings deficit of 127, Australian leg spinner Shane Warne gave the home side a scare, claiming three quick wickets to have Middlesex struggling at 99 for four at tea.
But Gatting, playing in what could well be his last match against Australia, batted with Keith Brown for 80 minutes to deny the Australians victory. Gatting, now a member of the England selection committee, had made 85 in the first innings.
