NEW DELHI, September 24: Gaurav Shinh beat a strong field of 42 players to win the 45th Pepsi Pool Cool Play-Opps. Gaurav won the tournament beating Anil Advani 2-1 in a keenly fought match. For Anil Advani it was yet again a situation of so near and yet so far. Having made it thrice to the finals, the championship seems to elude him yet again. Anil reached up on the loosing end even though he did come close to pulling it off this time.

Thirteen years old Briju Kumar was the star of the day. Briju, put up an excellent performance reaching the semi-finals, but could not match up to the experience of Advani. The major upsets of the day were Jatin Nanda, Ripu Daman and Ricky who put up disappointing performance and lost in the early rounds of the event.

The top six positions in the challengers were: Gaurav Shinh (winner); Anil Advani (runners-up); Briju Kumar, Deepak Sikri (joint third); Vijay Mendhiratta, Sandeep Jain (joint fifth). The next challenger will be organised on September 25 at Cues, Basant Lok (Vasant Vihar) at 11 am.
