
CHANDIGARH, Dec 17: Government College for Girls, Sector 42 played a 1-1 draw with Khalsa College for Women, Sidhuwan Khurd in their second league match in the ongoing Panjab University Inter-College women’s hockey tournament being played at PU Campus.
Center-forward Poonam Parwar scored for GCG-42 in the 11th minute of the encounter. After the change of ends, they were, however, surprised by the rejuvenated KCW girls, who levelled the score.
After a few futile attempts at the rival citadel, Ikjot Kaur breached GCG’s defence to score in the 65th minute (1-1).
In the second match of the day, MCM DAV-36 blanked Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, 9-0. The eventual winners led 5-0 at the break.
In a one-sided affair, MCM shot into the lead through Dimpal in the 3rd minute. Thereafter, the hapless Ludhiana girls were mute spectators to the event as goals galore.
Babita (6th, 37th), Bharti (24th, 64th), Suman (41st, 58th), Sushma (10th), Prabhjot (12th) were the other goal getters for the team.
MCM will face GCG-42 in their crucial match tomorrow at 11.30 a.m., while KCW, Ludhiana takes on KCW, Sidhuwan Khurd, in the second league match slated for the day.
