GNP-36 enter quarter-finals

Rajinder scored the first goal for Govt Model School in the sixth minute. Five minutes later Parminder consolidated the lead (2-0).

But the lead was shotlived as GNP attackers made inroads into the rival territory and found the net. Rakesh made it 1-2 in the 19th minute and Gurpreet slotted the home the team’s second goal (2-2) just before the break.

After the change of ends, Govt Model School played defensive while the GNP lads were on the offensive and added two goals more to their tally. Raman scored the team’s third goal in the 35th minute and Dashmesh struck the fourth in the dying moments of the game.

Guru Harkishan School, Sector 40 beat St Stephen’s School, Sector 45 by a solitary goal and got a berth in the last eight of the meet. Sanjiv scored the match winner just before the long hooter.

In another match of the day, St Soldier School-28 beat New Public School-18 by three goals to nil to sail into the quarterfinals. Angad struck twice while Amarjit Singh completed the rout.

Guru Teg Bahadur School-15 and St John’s High School-26 also scored victories over their rivals. GTB-15 defeated Govt School-15, 2-1 via tie-break while St John’s outplayed St Joseph’s High School 4-1.

Bloom Model School-21 had an easy passage into the quarters as their opponents Shivalik Public School-41, did not turn up at the venue.

St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School-44 was also shown the exit door by Govt Model High School-38 who defeated them by three goals to nil.

In the last match of the day, St Kabir School-26 outplayed Govt Model School-22, 2-0 to move into the last eight.
