The supreme court on friday asked the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Limited (NICE), which sought contempt proceedings to be initiated against the Karnataka Government for “willfully disobeying” court’s orders on the Rs 1,200-crore Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project, to show why such a plea should be heard.Hearing arguments by senior advocate Ashok Desai, appearing for NICE, the three-judge Special Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan even suggested that NICE move the High Court concerned on the contempt plea. Desai attempted to point out how the state Government had scuttled the project in defiance of SC’s earlier orders. The Bench, also comprising Justices R V Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari, unwilling to accept the submission of another counsel, senior advocate Dushyan Dave, to issue notice to the Government said, “No formal notice unless we are convinced.” The matter was posted for further hearing on October 29.
