Goa Assembly polls on June 2

The Election Commission today announced the dates for the Goa Assembly elections. The state would go to the polls on June 2, before the term of the present Assembly gets over on June 11.

The Election Commission today announced the dates for the Goa Assembly elections. The state would go to the polls on June 2, before the term of the present Assembly gets over on June 11.

The results will be declared on June 5. The nomination for the elections will have to be filed by May 8 and scrutiny will be take place on May 15.

The last date of withdrawal of candidature is May 18. With today’s announcement, the model code of conduct comes into force which means no government schemes or projects that benefit Goa and its voters can be launched or announced either by the state or the Central government.

The Election Commission has held a meeting with the Home Ministry for deployment of Central paramilitary forces in the state.
