PANAJI, Dec 15: The Goa Legislative Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes amid demand by the Opposition for the resignation of the Speaker, Tomazinho Cardozo. The din followed a zero hour mention by BJP's Manohar Parrikar that the government was not adhering to its own ``sons of soil'' policy on the issue of allotment of beach shacks. Several Goans, who were earning their livelihood from it, were put to hardship due to the government attitude, he alleged.Dr Jhalmi said the Speaker was getting involved in party activities and hence the demand for his resignation.Earlier, Dr Wilfred Desouza, who holds the tourism portfolio, told the House that shack owners had demanded review of guidelines in respect of allotment of shacks.A committee of MLAs was constituted to look into the matter and it had made some recommendations, Dr Desouza said, adding the matter was ``subjudice'' as it was now before court.
