Goa Assembly Speaker Pratapsingh Rane on Wednesday restored the voting rights of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) legislators Ramakrishna Dhavlikar and Deepak Dhavlikar as well as Congress MLA Victoria Fernandes.

The Dhavlikar brothers were suspended from the House under the anti-defection law after they withdrew support to the Digambar Kamat Government in last July. Victoria was charged with anti-party activities for not voting in support of the Government after not being inducted into the Cabinet. The Dhavlikar brothers have withdrawn the petition they filed in the Supreme Court challenging their suspension. Sources said the MGP would now support the Congress-led Government.

The Congress party enjoys the support of 16 MLAs in the 40-member Assembly. The party is backed by the three-member NCP, two MLAs from the Save Goa Front and a United Goans Democratic Party MLA and an Independent. The remaining seats are held by the BJP.
