A GoM under Home Minister Shivraj Patil will examine the rules governing FDI in print. The decision to set up a GoM was taken a fortnight ago by the Cabinet, following I&B Ministry’s plea of suggesting changes in the Press Registration of Books and Periodicals Act — to check Indian publications of foreign newspapers.
Other GoM members are Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran, I&B Minister Jaipal Reddy and Law Minister H.R. Bharadwaj. The issue had come up in the light of International Herald Tribune being published from Hyderabad.
