Govt asks CBI to probe Lone killing

To steer clear of allegations of political conspiracy in the killing of PDP MLA Ghulam Nabi Lone, at his high security Tulsi Bagh residence two years ago, the Ghulam Nabi Azad Government announced a CBI inquiry into the matter on Monday. Making the announcement, Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig said, “We want the CBI to probe the charge of political conspiracy. If there was a conspiracy, the conspirator shall be exposed.” Beig was referring to the suspicion raised by Congress member Shohaib Lone into the killing of his father. “When I went to meet Mehbooba seeking help she said in plain words aapka baap PDP key liye zahar ban chukka thaa…,” Lone had told the House. Claiming that his father had developed differences with the PDP, he said: “Mehbooba showed me the list of some eight legislators who wanted to part away from PDP and my father’s name topped the list.”
