VADODARA, Nov 16: Taking congnisance of the plight of 80-odd qualified homoeopaths, who graduated from reputed colleges in Vallabh Vidyanagar in March but were denied practise licenses, the State government has decided to give them provisional permission to practice.

The graduates of Dr V H Dave Homoeopathic Medical College and Anand Homoeopathic Medical College and Research Institute had been in limbo for more than eight months since they did not receive their registration numbers.

The colleges’ inadequacies in teaching and equipment reportedly compounded with administrative lethargy in the institutions as well as government agencies to delay the licensing of the homoeopaths. Express Newsline had carried a detailed report on the imbroglio on November 12.

Senior authorities of the Homoeopathic Department of the State government and the college principals met on Saturday to discuss the issue and resolve it in the students’ favour.

While college principals Dr V V Dave and Dinesh Agrawal and Gujarat Council registrar N K Upadhyay said the doctors’ plight had been addressed, Homoeopathic Department Director Anis Mankad told Express Newsline that the doctors would get provisional permission within a fortnight or so.

Meanwhile, the graduate homoeopaths appeared to be relieved that things were moving at last. Ritesh Malik from Haryana and Velisha Patel of Ankudia village (Vadodara rural) told Express Newsline that they were happy with the State government’s initiative.

“At least now we have a face to show in society”, they said, adding that their juniors careers could also be presumed to be taken care of.

Ritesh’s father, Baljeet Singh Chaudhary, however, said, “The State should also expedite the process to give the students registration from the Central Council”.
