Following reports of a possible SARS outbreak in certain sections of the media, the Ministry of Health is sending a two-member team from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases to Bhopal.

Though the Government has ruled out that the nine deaths, reported in a Bhopal hospital in the past three months, were due to SARS, the team will examine the case of an 18-year-old boy in Bhopal.

‘‘The doctor attending the patient has confirmed that he does not fit the WHO definition of a SARS victim,’’ said Dr S.P. Agarwal, Director General Health Services.
