The group, constituted by Communications and IT Minister Arun Shourie, to sort out the issues between cellular and basic operators on Monday discussed the issues of limited mobility and level playing field.

No interim order by TDSAT on WLL
NEW DELHI: TDSAT has refused to give an interim order against Reliance’s proposed roaming facility on WLL phones as telecom regulator TRAI stated that it was examining Reliance’s reply. ‘‘We have received reply from Reliance Infocomm about their roaming facility on WLL phones and we are examining it,’’ TRAI counsel Meet Malhotra told TDSAT. TDSAT adjourned the hearing for February 24. (ENS)

‘‘We discussed three issues concerning WLL-based limited mobile services and have sought some more information. The group will meet again on February 21 to deliberate further,’’ said Vinod Vaish, chairman of Telecom Commission after the first meet. The meeting which lasted for two and half hours, was attended by Vaish, S. Ramakrishnan of Tata Teleservices, BSNL CMD Prithipal Singh, Asim Ghosh from Hutchison-Essar and Rajeev Chandrashekhar, president of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). Sunil Mittal of Bharti and Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Infocomm could not attend the meeting and were represented by their officials. Sources said the meeting was focussed on understanding and deliberating various aspects of WLL issues as decided in a meeting between Shourie and the industry.

Cellular and basic players offering WLL mobile services are at loggerheads over limited mobility services.
