Two GRP personnel today looted cash and valuables from passengers of a general compartments of Varanasi-bound Mahanagri Express near Manikpur station in Madhya Pradesh, a North Central Railway (NCR) official said.

The NCR Chief Public Relations officer B.P. Pandey said that the GRP personnel, Maidan Singh and Surendra Singh, looted cash and valuables from some passengers before escaping in darkness at Manikpur station.

The passengers, who stopped the movement of the 1093 down train by pulling the alarm chains to protest the robbery by the GRP men, however, refused to lodge a FIR in this connection, he said in a release here.

The erring cops have been identified and necessary action was being initiated against them, Pandey said.

In a separate incident, a commuter was injured after he was thrown off a train by unidentified miscreants near at Rampur station in the district, the NCR PRO said.
