SANGLI, Jan 14: Barely two days after Sangli’s guardian minister Anna Dange swore to the satisfactory law and order situation in the district, his son Chiman tasted the bitter pill when he was threatened at gun-point by a history-sheeter who according to local police is `missing’.

Chiman Dange also the vice-president of State Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha was on a tour of Walva taluka, which once had earned notoriety in the records of British for its crime rate. He was accosted by Rajendra Patil and accomplices and threatened of dire consequences, if he was seen in the area again. Before he was bundled into his car Dange junior was told that he could not hold meetings in Walwa taluka without Patil’s permission.

According to reports reaching here Dange junior who was supposed to meet some of his followers over his proposed Deendayal cotton mill, returned without holding any meeting.

Patil also told Dange that his father would be minister for only a few days and he (Patil) would make things difficult for the Danges after that, said Baba Suryavanshi who was accompanying Dange junior.

Patil, brother of district Congress vice president Dilip Patil, faces many criminal charges, according to available information. No arrests were made till late Friday evening, Sangli police control room said.

In another incident, a standard IV student at Bapat Bal Mandir Mayur Kore managed to give the slip to an alleged kidnapper. Mayur was on the way to school when he was dashed by a young cyclist. The later picked him up and put him on the cycle and asked him about his parents and others in the family. Mayur jumped down as the cycle slowed down and ran away, it was learnt.
