
CHANDIGARH, July 30: The civil suit alleging misuse of public donations by the executive committee of Sector 19 gurdwara will come up before UT Sub Judge (Ist Class) Jasbir Singh on August 4.
Deposing before the court, gurdwara pardhan Sardul Singh Vilkhu, sought time for filing a written statement. Earlier, Ajit Singh Sodhi and Bhagat Singh Kirti had sought an inquiry into the affairs of the management.
Seeking removal of the executive and the high-powered committee, the plaintiffs had also sought the cancellation of the rules and the bye-laws.
8 months’ RI for thief
A beedi-cigarette thief was today sentenced to eight months rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 200 by UT Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) Jasbir Singh. The convict, Sonu alias Gobind of Sector 31 Labour Colony, was directed to undergo one month RI in default of payment. He was earlier booked under section 380, 457, 411 of the IPC. According to the prosecution, Sonu had stolen several packs of beedis and cigarettes, along with 15 kgs of soap cake, after breaking into a kiosk in Hallo Majra in December 1997.
