CHANDIGARH, SEPT 13: The Gymnastic Federation of India has selected 12 gymnasts who will participate in the 34th Artistic World Gymnastic Championship to be held in Tianjin in China from October 8 to 16. The team was finalised after the trials which concluded at National Institute of Sports, Patiala yesterday. Earlier a coaching camp also held at Patiala.

The team:
Boys: Vikash Pandey (UP), Sudip Jana (Railways), Rajinder Prasad (Punjab), Mayank Srivastava (UP), Mohit Yadav (UP), Avanish (UP).

Girls: Thumpa Debnath (West Bengal), Jaswant Kaur (Punjab), Sundri Mandal (Railways), Chanchala Chakravarty (West Bengal), Manisha (Maharashtra).

Coaches: Husan Jan and Kalpana Debnath. Technical judge: Inderjit Singh.

A spokesman of the GFI said that the World Championship will also serve as the qualifying meet for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
