Mohd Haneef burst into tears after being shown the photographs of his newborn daughter on Tuesday in the first family meeting allowed to the medico since he was detained three weeks ago. A cousin of Haneef’s wife, Imran Siddiqui, who flew in from India over the weekend, said both he and Haneef cried when they saw each other at the Wolston Correctional Centre, west of Brisbane, according to ABC. The visit lasted for about an hour and Haneef was shown photos of his daughter and family which he was allowed to keep. Haneef was reduced to tears on several occasions, including when he was presented with photographs of his baby daughter who was born on June 27.
“I told him that we all know he’s innocent,” Siddiqui told ABC. “I didn’t tell that we believe he’s innocent. I told him we all know that he’s innocent.”
Later, Siddiqui got in touch with Haneef’s wife in Bangalore, who said Haneef seemed “mentally strong” and in good health.
