PUNE, Jan 27: Assisted by a whirlwind knock of 32 runs off just 22 balls from Harshal Kulkarni, Sakal defeated Bloom by a margin of 29 runs in their semi-final encounter of the Inter-Media cricket tournament here today.

Even a rich haul of four wickets at the cost of 44 runs by Jayant Kulkarni could not destabilise the Sakal innings as the team returned to the dressing room only after putting up 159 runs on the board.

For Bloom, it was Parag Burke who managed to occupy the crease the longest for his 66 runs off 62 balls. Opponents Amar Nitwe and Mahesh Aaher returned excellent bowling figures of 3 for 22 and 2 for 23 respectively to pull the Bloom innings threadbare as the team crashed to all out at 130, 29 runs short of the target. Amar Nitwe of Sakal bagged the Man-of-the-Match. He first contributed 22 runs to his team’s total and then halted the Bloom innings with his haul of three wickets.
