Australian animator Adam Elliot, whose claymation Harvie Krumpet won an Academy award this year, says he wants to keep making movies in his homeland. ‘‘We often feel that we’re not as good as the Americans. Winning an Oscar has reminded myself and the film community that… our voice is very unique,’’ Elliot said today.
‘‘I have had a lot of offers to work in America…and turn Harvie into a fluffy toy,’’ Elliot said. ‘‘But we keep reminding ourselves of why we’re independent filmmakers. We want to keep telling Australian stories, and making films here in Australia.
He worked on Harvie Krumpet, a 22-minute film made on a budget of US $250,000, in a hot shed sometimes clad only in his underwear. — (PTI)
