PANCHKULA, APRIL 24: Due to reduced power availability, the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) has decided to regulate power supply in the state and impose scheduled power cuts for the next 30 days. The decision will come into force from April 22 midnight.
Because of a jumper snag at the Sector 15 feeding station today, the township plunged into darkness in the evening. Sources at the station confirmed the snag, adding that the supply would be resumed late at night, after 10 p.m.
This was stated by Haryana Power Utilities chairperson Meenakshi Anand Chaudhary in a press note released here yesterday. Chaudhary said the 210 MW-unit Panipat Thermal Power Station has been taken out for maintenance so as to generate optimum power during the approaching Kharif season.
There has been a considerable reduction in availability of power from the unallocated central pool supplied from the generating units of NTPC.
The detailed schedule shall be notified at circle-level and a rotational approach will be followed, the release said
However, essential services will be exempted from all kinds of power cuts.
