Overcoming the initial shock of the Punjab Government annulling all Ravi-Beas water pacts, the Haryana Government today decided to wait and watch, before deciding on its next course of action.The Opposition parties, on the other hand, got ready for confrontation. The BJP youth wing chalked out an agitation plan, the Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) said it will hold dharnas, while the Congress cried foul.Initially, CM Om Prakash Chautala too had adopted an aggressive stand. He held detailed discussion with Advocate-General Ashok Aggarwal and senior Irrigation Department officials. He even called for legal experts to challenge the Punjab Government’s order. After the PMO conveyed the time the PM would meet Chautala, the Haryana Government agreed to wait and watch. The Haryana unit of the Congress took a delegation to the Governor condemning the Punjab Government’s action. ‘‘The Punjab action is in clear defiance of the Supreme Court order. It needs immediate rectification,’’ says Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, Leader of the Opposition. ‘‘I shall undertake a padayatra and an agitation will begin in the state from Thursday,’’ says Jaiveer Godara, the BJP’s youth wing chief.CM threatens to move courtNEW DELHI: Haryana Chief Minister O.P. Chautala on Tuesday threatened to move the court if the Centre failed to implement the SC verdict on SYL canal construction. After meeting Manmohan Singh, Chautala said: ‘‘The PM assured that he will do justice to everyone,’’ he said, adding that, ‘‘If there are problems in implementation of the SC verdict, we will move the SC.’’
