Matthew Hayden may have to sit out the Perth Test, starting at the WACA ground January 16, owing to a sore hamstring, according to The Age. Hayden was unable to field on the fifth day at the SCG and team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris yesterday said he was not a “sure thing” for Perth, reports the paper. “He’s in some doubt because he strained it during the game,” Kountouris said. “He could be OK in a few days or it could be a few weeks.”
If Hayden fails to prove his fitness, West Australian Chris Rogers could make his debut, making for an inexperienced opening partnership with Phil Jaques.
