JALANDHAR, July 19: In view of the recent Punjab and Haryana High Court order regarding regulation of traffic, the district administration has decided to ensure that both the pillion and the person driving a two-wheeler wear helmets in the city.
The administration has also ordered removal of red lights which were unauthorisedly being used on some government and private vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Som Parkash has also ordered that use of black films on the window panes of vehicles in the city would not be allowed. The administration has fixed a speed limit of 50 km per hour for all carriers and buses which ply school children.
Wearing of uniforms by drivers and conductors has also been made mandatory.
MOGA: The Moga district administration has constituted a special task force to implement the Punjab and Haryana High Court directive on traffic rules with immediate effect.
The decision was taken at meeting presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kulbir Singh Kang on Friday evening.
Kang told ENS that the task force would consist of SSP, DTO, ADC, SDMs of concerned sub-divisions, district education officer, divisional forest officer, civil surgeon, executive engineers of B&R plan roads, buildings and rural works, panchayati raj, mandi board and executive officer of the nagar council. The task force will also submit a weekly report to the deputy commissioner.
The DC has also directed the concerned executive engineers to ensure the removal of all encroachments on the GT road within 15 days.
Sangrur: District Magistrate Anirudh Tewari has issued orders making it compulsory for pillion-riders to wear helmets. Sikhs wearing turbans, however, have been exempted from wearing helmets.
In accordance with the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the district magistrate has also banned use of pressure and musical horns. The directives also include ban on red lights on vehicles, tinted glasses of vehicles and compulsory wearing of uniform by drivers and conductors of all hired vehicles.
Faridkot: The Faridkot district administration has decided to implement Punjab and Haryana High Court directions regarding the removal of encroachments on state and national highways from 15 feet of the edge of roads and wearing of helmets by pillion-riders.
Ludhiana: A comprehensive campaign to implement high court orders on traffic regulation has been launched in the district jointly by the transport department, traffic police and pollution control Department.
The traffic police and Transport Department have challaned 50 vehicles for not having pollution check certificates. Drivers of two-wheelers were challaned for driving without helmets and about 100 pressure horns were removed from buses and trucks in the district.
NAWANSHAHR: Presiding over a district-level meeting convened here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Roshan Sunkaria said that all necessary steps would be taken for the compliance of HC order on traffic rules in the district and anyone found flouting them would be punished severely.
