New Delhi, Aug 26: The Delhi High Court has issued notice to Archies Greeting and Gift Ltd (AGGL) on a plaint alleging that it has infringed copy rights of a Singapore company and its Indian counterpart in preparing and selling educational charts meant for children.

Justice S K Agarwal issued the notice recently asking the defendant to file reply to the plaint by October 23, the next date of hearing, and appointed a lawyer as local commissioner to inspect the premises of AGGL here.

The plaint filed by Singapore Company Early Childhood Publications (International) Pvt Ltd and its counterpart in India Early Learners Pvt Ltd alleged that AGGL without any right or permission from the petitioners companies copied, printed, distributed and sold their "educational charts" meant for the children.

The plaintiffs sought among other things to restrain the AGGL, its partners, dealers, stockists and agents from directly or indirectly dealing with the sale of these charts which were duplicated in respect of colour combination, get up layout and arrangement of features.

According to the plaint, the charts, which had allegedly been copied included "Animals of the World", "Nursery Rhymes" "Domestic Animals" and "My First ABC".
