Frowning at the way the J-K police conducted investigations into the porn CD case, the state high court today rejected the prosecution’s plea to shift the prime accused, former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta, from her residence to a Nari Niketan.
A division bench of Chief Justice S.N. Jha and Justice S.K. Gupta took strong exception to the fact that the police have so far interrogated only two of the five persons named by Anara. The girl’s statement was vital, the Chief Justice observed, adding that the court has to be satisfied about the investigations going in the right direction.
It directed the Crime Branch to interrogate all those named by the former beauty queen and to whom calls from her mobile were made. The police should file a fresh CD report after winter vacation, the bench said. Earlier, Anara’s counsel Rahul Pant told the court that she was not willing to go to a Nari Niketan.
