Health ministry intensifies polio campaign

In its effort to eradicate polio from the country, the Union Health Ministry has intensified its polio eradication campaign. An estimated 89 million children will be vaccinated in April. The first campaign will be launched on Sunday in UP and Bihar.

“There is a need to strengthen the rounds of pulse polio vaccination in areas where we have maximum number of cases, hence we have planned to conduct three rounds this month. About 40 districts in UP and 17 in Bihar will be covered under this campaign,” said an official in the National Pulse Polio Programme of the Ministry.
