DUBAI, June 21: Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli troops continued for the eighth day today in the West Bank town of Hebron, regional news agencies said.
Some 60 palestinians were wounded in street battles on Friday when Israeli soldiers fired rubber bullets at them, the reports said.
They said an 18-year-old Palestinian youth, Rami Salaamah, was in a serious condition after he was hit in the head by a rubber bullet and was struggling for his life in hospital.
Television pictures from Hebron showed Palestinian youth hurling Molotov cocktails and stones at Israeli troops on Friday. Some of them were seen running with a blue-and-white Israeli flag they had set on fire.
Peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians have been stalled for more than three months after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave the go-ahead for a new housing project for Jews in East Jerusalem in mid-March.
