Brighton, November 27: British No 1 Tim Henman collected his first ATP tour win on home soil beating Slovakian Dominik Hrbaty 6-2, 6-2 in the final of the Brighton Open.

Henman, who was 10th in the Champions Race before this tournament began, played perfectly and did not allow Hrbaty any chance throughout the match. The Slovakian, seeded number two, battled on, showing real courage and some astute tennis but failed to make any impact.

Johansson took one hour 35 minutes on Sunday to inflict a convincing victory on the reigning Olympic champion and diminish Kafelnikov’s reputation as a ‘Swede killer’.

More pertinently, Kafelnikov has been left to pick up his confidence ahead of the season-ender in Lisbon next week.
