CHANDIGARH, Sept 27: The Home Guards today stayed a protest here today to press for their demands. They gathered in Sector 17 near the Chandigarh Housing Board chowk.
They were protesting against the termination of their services recently. About 285 jawans were discharged from services by the Home Guards commandant "after their service period of five years" had lapsed. However, they services were required once again for a week during the elections and their services were extended by three more weeks.
