The CPI today accused the UPA Government of not ensuring that Parliament met for an adequate number of days. Addressing the media on Wednesday, the party’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gurudas Dasgupta said even the UPA was ‘‘succumbing to the sinister tendency of bypassing Parliament’’.

With CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan by his side, Dasgupta said, while the BJP had resorted to stalling proceedings in the last session, it did not imply that UPA would not make efforts to ensure that both Houses met more often. He said this would appear to be one of the worst years in Parliamentary history.
