OFF TRACK: You design sexy clothes for slim, model-like women. What about the others?
I can make an overweight woman look slim, but my plus sizes just don’t sell in India. Bigger women are afraid to come to me. If they did, my sales would be tenfold.
Diet: I don’t have a really healthy diet plan—I mostly follow a traditional Indian diet. I start with a cup of tea and later have a mug of milk with coffee. Breakfast is two slices of toast with egg bhurji. Lunch and dinner are almost similar, with rotis, dal, sabzi and yogurt. I eat pretty big meals as I get quite hungry at work. I’m mostly vegetarian, but I love seafood. I don’t stop myself from eating desserts, but food in our home is cooked using minimal amount of oil.
Exercise: I used to be an exercise freak, but I’ve stopped now. My job is exercise enough—of the eight hours I’m there, I’m sitting down for only half an hour. I do a few crunches, and run when I have the time. When I get really desperate, I go begging to my trainer who can make me look great in just a month.
Problem areas: I’m pretty slim, but Indian hips and upper thighs have been a problem. And now with age, my tummy is one too.
