SHIMLA, Jan 8: Several parts of Himachal, its higher reaches and tribal areas remained cut off from the rest of the state following heavy snowfall for the last 24 hours.

Normal vehicular traffic was disrupted on the Hindustan-Tibet road at Kufri early in the morning, following skidding of some vehicles. The road beyond Narkanda and Khara Pathar was blocked by the snow affecting the transport services.

Water and power supply was also affected in some of the areas, including Shimla town, which had witnessed nearly 20 cm of snow.

The life in some of the tribal areas was also thrown out of gear as temperature had dipped down to freezing point. Even in Shimla, people shivered under intense cold and tourists resorts of Kufri, Charabra, Naldehra and Fagu remained under a thick blanket of snow. The Shimla town and Jakhu peak presented a beautiful look.
