I was playing a bar dancer in Plan, while in Kismat, I’m a pop singer. Rajiv Rai’s Asambhav will be next, which also has me playing a pop singer. So which pop singer do you emulate when you shoot for your songs?I am a big Alisha Chinai fan. I like her voice quality and the emotions she conveys. Mariah Carey is an absolute diva. But no one matches Madonna, she has fabulous stage presence. For my own film numbers, I try to notice the way Madonna goes about the technicalities of holding the mike or using her hands. You wear the same belly button cap in all your dance numbers.It’s a little thing which I only use for my songs. I don’t think I have the guts to get my navel pierced in real life. The most I can do is get my nose pierced. You haven’t done an item number yet.I won’t do it for the sake of doing it. First, I want to establish myself as an actor, then do one like Ash did in Shakti and Urmila in China Gate. What’s the controversy surrounding Plan? Sanjay Gupta says he paid you, while you said he didn’t.Eventually I got paid. Only then did I dub for the film. You seduced Akshay Kumar in Andaaz wearing a towel. Who’s next in line?I don’t know why such a big deal is made about the towel scene. I was wearing something inside. I am playing the seductress again in Abbas Mustan’s Aetraaz but it’s a very performance-oriented role. There’s nothing vulgar in that role but yeah, once again I seduce Akshay Kumar. You are doing quite a few films with him. Is that why the two of you have been linked?I am doing Waqt, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Aetraaz with Akshay. I think we look good together. But that’s about it. There are also rumours about an affair with Subhash Ghai.I haven’t met Mr Ghai in two years now. I met him once when I won the Miss World title. I am doing his production Aetraaz, but he hasn’t seen me yet. So all the stories are downright stupid. I guess being a single girl in the industry is a difficult and painful thing. I just laugh off these rumours. You worked with Sunny Deol in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy and now you’re with Bobby Deol in Kismat. How are the brothers different?While Sunny is a reserved person, Bobby is fun. But both of them go out of their way to make me feel comfortable. So, do you like being a siren?I am sick and tired of it. You do just one film and you get stuck with this image. Post Andaaz I’ve turned down so many films because the makers wanted me to expose or do the same kind of stuff. I want to be a versatile actress and don’t just want to be remembered for having a good body. It’s time people realised that.
