Under pressure due to the rising prices of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in the international market, Indian airlines on Saturday announced an across-the-board 12 per cent hike in fares with effect from April 15.

There will also be a proportional hike in promotional fares, though no immediate increase has been made in holiday packages/ super-saver schemes.

An IA spokesperson said domestic ATF price rose from Rs 27,250/ kl to Rs 32,250/ kl from April 1, leading to the decision to hike ‘‘domestic Rupee fares by 12 per cent’’.
