MUMBAI, July 24: Indian Airlines, which is slowly coming out of the red following the demise of private airlines in the country, is in a celebratory mood. It has unveiled major plans to observe the golden jubilee of Indian independence for one year beginning August 15.IA will paint all its aircraft with the official logo created on the occasion by the department of culture. The logo will also appear on all passenger tickets, boarding cards, stationery and promotional material of the airline. Patriotic songs and tunes will also be part of the airline's inflight music on Independence Day. Other IA activities will include a book, The Indian Experience, which will feature various aspects of Indian heritage and culture. Also to be published is a corporate brochure highlighting the achievements of the airline since its inception and ``an emphasis on the contribution made by the airline towards India's socio-economic development and significant milestones achieved in our corporate history,'' IA informed in the latest issue of its inhouse newsletter, Image. Also on the anvil is an exhibition highlighting the growth and achievements of IA for display at its booking offices.IA is also preparing to launch a `sponsor the child' programme for young underprivileged citizens of the country. This may include promotions on the lines of special flights for handicapped children and distribution of special mementoes for passengers flying IA on August 15. Details of the scheme are still being worked out. IA is also likely to have a special flight to Port Blair originating from any of the Indian cities for people born on August 15. According to an IA spokesman, the details of the programmes have still not been finalised and will be announced just in time for the celebrations.
